Our church will be hosting Day Camp July 22-26. Preparations have begun for a fantastic week of fun for children from preschool to 6th grade! Our church will be partnering with Mt. Cross who will provide us with college-age Day Camp staff, curriculum and exciting activities for the week.

Day Camp for grades 1-6 will run from 9am-3pm Monday-Thursday and 9am-noon on Friday. The program for Preschool/Kindergarten will run from 9am-noon each day. Cost for the first child in each family is $75/week, subsequent children in the family is $50/week. Preschool/Kindergarten cost is $50/week. Financial assistance may be available on request.

Faith Alive is based on 1 Corinthians 16:14 - “Let all that you do be done in love.” Faith is a gift from God.  It is not earned, but given. Like the greatest present ever received from a loved one, to stow it unopened in the back of a closet makes no sense. Our faith is meant to be lived, something woven into all aspects of our lives, not just taken out for show on a Sunday morning or holiday. This summer’s theme focuses on five community faith practices that were modeled for us by Jesus: reading the Bible, worshiping, praying, providing hospitality, and living a life of service to the world. These faith practices help us understand who we are and how we are to be in the world.  What does it mean to have faith that is alive? We seek to stretch ourselves, to become knowledgeable and skilled at our discipleship. Kids should utilize the gifts that God gave them; when they do, they may find incorporating faith practices into their lives becomes infectious!

We are so excited to host Day Camp at our church, as we did last year. It is a great way to invigorate our congregation, youth and families. We also encourage you to invite neighbors and friends and families in our community to participate and see what “the church with the blue pointy roof” is all about!

For children age 3 through 5th Grade, Sunday School is offered during the school year. With the guidance of our Church in Society Committee, the children learn to care for people in our community and beyond by giving their monetary or in-kind offerings to various programs. Programs they have supported include: InnVision Shelter Network (homeless), Samaritan House (emergency homeless), CORA (abuse prevention), Heifer International, ELCA World Hunger, ELCA Disaster Relief, Help One Child (supporting Foster Families), and the Church in Jerusalem (Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Holy Land and Jordan).

Confirmation Class for students in Grades 6 through 8 meets on Sunday mornings during the school year. Students learn the basics of their Lutheran faith and progress into full adult membership in the church.

Midweek Nursery School is a two-mornings a week educational opportunity for children 3 and 4 years old. Classes rotate on an annual basis between children that are 3 and 4 years old. In September 2012 a new class will begin for children who will be four years old by December 2012. Established in 1967, the preschool does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarships, and other school administered programs. Please contact the church office for more information. The school is eligible to receive Thrivent Choice DollarsSM from Thrivent for Lutherans members.

As part of the W-ELCA, St. Andrew’s has two “Circles,” which are small groups of women who get together in homes or at church once a month for Bible study, prayer, fellowship, and refreshments. The Circles are: Elizabeth Circle, which meets on the third Tuesday of each month at Noon; and Martha Circle, which meets on the second Thursday at 6:30 a.m. All women of the congregation are invited to participate.

St. Andrew's is honored to be a Teaching Parish site for Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (PLTS). Located in Berkeley, Calif., PLTS prepares students for their life's vocation of service and leadership.
