Worship
at St. Andrew’s is both liturgical and uplifting. A different worship
setting is usually used each week, utilizing the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal with its ten settings for liturgical worship, the With One Voice hymnal, the Hymnal Supplement 1991 and other appropriate resources.
Holy
Communion is a part of every Sunday service. We use a gluten-free communion bread and offer a choice of wine or white grape juice. Worship is led by the
pastor with the assistance of lay readers,
communion assistants and assisting ministers from among the membership
of the congregation. Worship also always includes a provocative
Children’s Word (sermon), a favorite of both adults and children.
We
invite you to worship on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. We gather around
God’s Word and Table to be fed by Christ through Proclamation and the
Meal.
Please consider yourself welcome!
Four times a year, the Caring Committee provides a brief communion service
followed by a luncheon for senior members and friends who, for a variety
of reasons, are either unable to attend worship services on a regular basis
and/or who simply enjoy the great meal and fellowship. We meet in the church for worship, and then move to the fellowship hall where we enjoy the meal and each other's company. Our facility is handicapped accessible.
This is our adult and older youth handbell choir which accompanies hymns,
plays anthems, and leads processionals during worship services. They
rehearse on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
Our Choir has re-formed under the direction of Jeff Dunn, who also directs our Mission Bells. The choir eagerly awaits plans for the next time they will sing during worship.
Baptisms
of children and adults are a delight to the Church. However, since
through baptism one becomes a member of the Church and the congregation,
baptisms are only done where there is the expectation that
participation in the Church is the intention. Baptisms are scheduled
only after consultation with the pastor.
Non-member weddings can be scheduled after consultation with the pastor,
and include three mandatory pre-wedding sessions with the pastor in
addition to a rehearsal and the wedding ceremony. Fees for facility use,
wedding hostess, organist, and pastoral services are negotiated
depending on need.
Non-member funerals can be scheduled following consultation with the pastor. Pastoral services for non-member funerals on or off-site are possible depending on the pastor’s schedule and availability.
